The prospect of a big break through
in her career forced Shix Kapienga to ditch her morals and do what she
thought she could never do before. The Hot 98 presenter was among the actors
who starred in the blockbuster Kenyan movie – Nairobi Half-life.
The movie has X-rated scenes and
interestingly Shix Kapienga’s role centered on those steamy scenes.
She played a role of a prostitute called Amina, the love interest of both
Oti and Mwas.
Speaking during an interview on
K24’s Talk Central, Shix Kapienga stated that she struggled with the
role she played on Nairobi Half-life since she had never undressed before
an audience.
Shix explained that playing the role
of a commercial sex worker on the movie was an acid test to her morals. She
said that she was forced to break out of her comfort zone since she wanted to
make it big in acting.
“It was just fine. The only
uncomfortable part is where I had to undress but I was like you know I want to
do acting and this is acting, I have to do it. Hatuwezi sema si ni actors then
tunanafanya vitu nusu-nusu, we have to go all the way, pole pole tu,”
said Shix Kapienga.
The Hot 96 presenter also revealed
that she barred her mother from watching Nairobi Half-life, this after her
mom teased her about her role on ‘Shuga 2’.
“I told my mum because she watched
Shuga and she is like aaaih that is how you were dancing? That is acting? I was
like mum it’s just acting and she was like aaaih hapana. You know our
mothers. “I was like Nairobi Half-Life is worse so I was like wachana
nayo,” Shix said.
