The cold blood murder of IEBC ICT
manager Chris Msando has prompted a reaction from the United States and the
United Kingdom governments. I
n a joint statement released by US
ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec and UK high commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey
on Monday, July 31, Donald Trump's administration and Teresa May's government
are willing to help Kenya unmasked the killers of Msando. The two said their
governments were shocked by the murder and were willing to send in FBI and
Scotland Yard respectively to assist Kenyan investigators in the case.
"The
United States and the United Kingdom are gravely concerned by the murder of
IEBC’s Systems Development Manager Christopher Msando. We extend our deepest
condolences to his family, friends and the entire IEBC team. It is critical
that Kenya have free, fair, credible and peaceful elections on August 8, and
protection for IEBC staff is essential to achieving this goal. We welcome the
Government of Kenya’s commitment to investigating the murder. We have offered
our assistance in the investigation,"
the statement read.
As reported Msando's body was traced
to the City Mortuary after going missing for three days. His car was found
parked at Roysambu.
]His remains were collected from a
thicket in Kiambu and taken to the morgue on Saturday, July 30. Msando has told
police that he had received death threats several times.
